π Skill Mastery in Outlands
Understanding how skill points and mastery work is essential to building an effective template in Ultima Online: Outlands.
π― Base Skill Cap
- All players start with a base skill cap of 700 points.
- These points can be freely distributed across any skills (combat, crafting, utility, etc.).
- Your total skill allocation cannot exceed this cap without using Skill Mastery Orbs.
π§ͺ Raising Your Skill Cap
- The base skill cap can be increased from 700 to 720 by using Skill Mastery Orbs.
- You will need 20 orbs to reach the full 720-point cap.
- These orbs can be obtained through gameplay and events.
π Skill Caps by Category
- Each skill starts with a personal cap of 100.0.
- You can raise select non-PvP skills to 120.0 using Skill Mastery Scrolls.
- You can raise individual skills to 120 at any time, even if your total skill cap is still 700.
- However, you are still limited to spending a maximum of 700 (or 720 with orbs) total skill points across all skills.
π οΈ Skills that can be raised to 120 include:
- Tailoring
- Tinkering
- Alchemy
- Blacksmithy
- Carpentry
- Inscription
- Provocation, Peacemaking, Discordance
- Other eligible non-PvP skills listed on the official wiki
π§ͺ Example: Using Mastery Scrolls and Orbs
Imagine the following setup:
- You have 7 skills at 100, totaling 700 skill points (the base cap).
- You want to raise Tailoring to 120.0.
Step 1: Use 20 Skill Mastery Scrolls to raise Tailoring's personal cap to 120. You can now train Tailoring to 120βbut doing so requires you to reduce other skills to stay within the 700 total cap.
Step 2 (Optional): Use 20 Skill Mastery Orbs to raise your overall cap from 700 to 720. Now you can raise Tailoring to 120 while keeping the other 6 skills at 100 each (6Γ100 + 120 = 720).
This allows full use of your upgraded skill without sacrificing points elsewhere.
π Echo Templates (Skill Loadouts)
An Echo is a stored snapshot of your characterβs current Stats and Skills, used to support multiple builds on a single character.
- You can unlock up to 3 total Echoes per character.
- Switching Echoes sets your current Stats/Skills to those saved in the target Echo.
- Echoes do not store gear, inventory, or murder countsβonly Stats and Skills.
- Switching is done via
[echo
command or at the Echo Pedestal. - Each switch triggers a cooldown (12 hours by default), which can be reduced to as low as 15 minutes with specific enhancements.
π‘ Restrictions:
- You cannot switch Echoes if you've been in PvP within 5 minutes or combat within 2 minutes.
- All skills are set to Locked upon activationβyou must manually enable gain/loss after switching.
π° Cost to Create an Echo:
Each new Echo requires one of the following:
- 1,000,000 Gold
- 1,000,000 Doubloons
- 100 Skill Mastery Scrolls
- 25,000 Arcane Essence
Echoes are essential for PvM, crafting, and economic flexibility without creating a new character.
